New EBS branch located in Sibiu

From the 1st of July, a new local branch of EBS Romania is fully functional. It is located in Transylvania, the town of Sibiu (Hermannstadt). The branch was designed as a software development center for the Outsourcing/ Nearshore Division.

Recertification according to ISO 9001

Both our clients and our company expect a quality-assured software development, organised within a stable environment. A series of measures, for example regarding employee certifications, structured documentation as well as automatic tools for quality-assured software, contribute towards the long-term satisfaction of our clients. We are happy that our consistent efforts have again been confirmed by SGS, the internationally active certification body. During an ISO 9001 audit taken place on the 7th and 8th of June 2006, the SGS team of audit has verified and ultimately confirmed the positive evolution of the QM-System that has been certified 3 years ago. The recertification for another 3 years represents for us both the motivation and the aspiration to persevere with our current way in terms of permanently trying to improve our business.

Presenting ITTS on the Munic Systems

First time this year EBS takes part in the Bavarian fair. We can be found at the Romanian booth in hall A3. Our customers and visitors will have the opportunity to talk about Nearshore Development and the new 'IT Touched Services' (ITTS). These services were developed together with our customers. Bitkom Forum for Medium-Sized Companies: Thomas P. Haeck Took a Speech on EU-East-Enlargement. The event organized on May 18 in Düsseldorf focused on the EU accesssion consequences of the Eastern European Countries

The objective of this event was to help medium-sized IT&C companies in taking a strategic decision regarding their view on EU East enlargement In his keynote under secretary Bickenbach (representing Mr. Schartau, Minister of Economics and Labour of the state Nordrhein Westfalen) talked about "Successful Medium-Sized Companies in the Growing Europe". In his lecture Mr. Haeck found an answer to the strategic questions of the companies, which have to take a decision regarding their engagement in Eastern Europe and to the financial, judicial, technological and cultural aspects, too.

EBS Romania celebrates 5 years of succesful activity on the IT market. The aniversary will be marked by a Press Conference held at its headquarters in Cluj-Napoca. Journalists from the local media are invited to participate at the event.

Offshore in a new dimension. IT Touched Services, the new services developed by EBS for its customers.

Since 2005 EBS developed and enlarged its spectrum of services: feeding dates into information systems; updating, validating, correcting, transforming, migrating, researching, extracting, combining, aggregating existent information; looking after, seting up, managing, reactivating after troubles/ disorders the information systems; making available a helpdesk or/and hotline or/and 1st, 2nd oder 3rd Level Support to the user. EBS succeeded in gaining several clients in the ITTS segment. EBS puts at the disposal of its clients its own team of experienced employees. EBS customers gain from the long-standing business in the Nearshore-SW - Development. Many experiences from this branch can be transferred one-to-one in the ITTS Services.

The quality control software QPC was awarded the Excellence Prize at the "Best Software Competition" - Binary 2004.

QPC (Quality Process Control), a software developed for monitorizing the quality parameters for the brewing industry - has been awarded the "Excellence Prize" at the "Quality Software" category in the competition for the Best Software. The prize was awarded at Binary 2004 Exhibition in Bucharest, 21-24 September. QPC also received a prize from Intel , as a recognition of the high level of performance.

EBS Romania and SiteCore Denmark close partnership.

EBS Romania SRL has entered into an agreement with SiteCore, the leading European provider of Content management solutions. Within the scope of this partnership a competence and development center is going to be created for the international market.

The application EBS OutputDesigner was certified by Sun. EBS OutputDesigner was developed for companies that use Natural/Adabas. Text-oriented printouts (CUI) can be processed graphically, exported in PDF-Format or printed as a GUI-Report.

Starting the certification project "ISO 9001" on the 7th of March 2003

On the 7th of March 2003 the certification project ‘”ISO 9001” was started. The certification company, which assists EBS in the certification process is the subsidiary of the SGS Group in Bucharest (www.sgs.com ). We consider the ISO-9001 certification not only a confirmation of our professionalism in quality management but also a chance for a continuous improvement of our production processes.

EBS Romania becomes member of the German-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Since 2003 our company has been member of the German-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The basic tasks of the German-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry are true to the status of the Chamber:

• The encouragement of the economic relations between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Romania, in the interest of Germany and Romania
• Representation of its members' interests
• Services that contribute to the purpose of the chamber and are in line with it

The German-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry was founded on the 7th of August 2002 in Bucharest. Till now it has acquired 200 members.

EBS Romania and Software AG become partners. By the development of the EBS OutputDesigner (XML Server) Software AG uses Tamino to achieve an optical archival torage. Software AG , with its headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany, was founded in 1969. Today it is the greatest European and world wide one of the leading system software, data integration and management service providers.

Scholarships 2002-2003

As we have done in the past two years, this autumn we are launching the project “Scholarships 2002/2003” too. We offer 6 scholarships to prominent students of the faculties of Commercial IT, Informatics and Computer Engineering.

The scholarship holders are going to gain experience in the field of Human Resource Management and Financial Accounting and they will have the chance to learn new technologies such as .Net and Java.

At the same time the scholarship holders will attend internal trainings in the fields of IT and German as a foreign language.

The fair "Zukunft Personal", specialized in Complete Systems of Human Resource Management, took place in Cologne during 17th-18th of September 2002, where EBS Romania Ltd participated. “Usergroup SAG Germany 2002” Essen

Our company EBS Romania SRL participated between 9th -11th of September 2002 at the conference “Usergroup SAG Germany 2002” in Essen, Germany.

The motto of this meeting was “ Together we'll achieve solutions”. The program of the conference included lectures, demos, and workshops with the following topics: ADABAS, NATURAL, Content & Co. Web Services and XML-Solutions.

Partnership with GIP GmbH-Frankfurt Main

At the end of July we entered a partnership with GiP GmbH, leader in human resource management solutions for governmental institutions in Germany.

The German Government is an important shareholder of GiP GmbH. Six specialists of our company have been working for GiP since the 1st of August 2002.

Our New Premises

In 30th of April 2002 we moved into our new building in the Pavel Rosca street. It is situated in the centre of the city (easy to reach by public means of transport) and has a total area of 1.400 m². In this new building we possess over 13 bureaus, 2 training rooms and 1 conference room.

EBS Romania Ltd Increased its Registered Capital

The Administration Council decided to increase the registered capital from 72 EUR to 179.000 EUR. This decision was taken as a result of the increasing involvement of the mother company in the coordination of EBS Romania Ltd. The main business was set up in Cluj Napoca.

The German company is one of the leading providers of enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions on the international market.

The increase of the registered capital was meant to support the initiative of EBS in offering programming services to small and medium business companies (IT outsourcing services) on the Romanian market.

Our company creates and develops personalized economic solutions upon demand. EBS Romania was founded in the summer of 2000 as a competitive Informatics and Economics center for the high level software market. The company had 50 employees at that time (42 IT specialists and economic consultants and 8 employees working in the administration), with an average age of 27.

The "Scholarships 2001" Project

At the end of last year we started the project „Scholarships 2001“. Its purpose was to introduce us as a modern, future-oriented employer to the students of Cluj. There are 5 national and 2 private universities in Cluj.

In Cluj there are in Cluj 5 national and 2 private universities. According to official statements approx. 50.000 students were matriculated in the autumn of 2002.

We offered ten scholarships to students of the faculty of Commercial IT. After a serious selection process we identified the best ten candidates.

In the last months the ten scholarship holders regularly attended Natural – and German language courses organized by us. In the same period these students had the chance to gain experience in several departments.

Naturally, this year we decided to continue this project. Given that there is a request in technical skills from Ulm (Basis, Base Tools), we made our offer not only to the students of the Faculty of Commercial IT, but also to those of Informatics. At present there are 10 scholarship holders participating at our internally organized training courses in the following fields: IT and German economics. This way they prepare themselves for a future career.

EBS Romania Ltd. supports the Waldorf school from Cluj this year too by providing IT courses to the 10th form.

The first Waldorf School

Was founded in 1919 by Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925) in Stuttgart. The principle of social justice was possible for the first time in the educational system. Independent from social origin, endowment and future occupation these young people receive a common education. As the first comprehensive secondary school, the Waldorf school has replaced the selection connected to the principle of vertical school system with a pedagogics of encouragement.

Since 1990 the net of the Waldorf schools has been continuously expanded. Meanwhile there are over 31 Waldorf schools in Romania. The Waldorf school in Cluj is one of the greatest Waldorf institutions in the country.

No repeaters

All the students pass through 12 school years. The curriculum of the Waldorf schools take into consideration the psychological states, characteristics and abilities of children.

For this reason starting with the 1st grade, next to more practical, factual information a comprehensive artistic teaching is introduced. This is meant to encourage creativity and imagination, which are of a great importance both for each person in part and for the whole society.

Artistic-Manual Skill Oriented Teaching

A varied manual skill oriented teaching encourages a differentiated formation of the will and a practical orientation of the student in life.

Development Oriented Curriculum

A decisive principle of the Waldorf curriculum lies in the adaptation of didactic material and educational methods to children's processes of learning and to stages of psychological development in the childhood and youth. From the very beginning the purpose of teaching is oriented towards inner human freedom.

Illustrative Teaching

In the first school years, when the own power of judgment of the students is still in development, illustrative teaching becomes a significant principle. The facts are treated in such a way, that the students experience and understand different realities of life and the core of things through illustrations and pictures.

Scientific Teaching

For the shaping of a very own way of life and of judgment already from the age of 14, several scientific subjects of the forms 9 to 12 are acquired. The Waldorf schools consider the pedagogical task to be the deepening of the teaching material in such a way, that the student will be able to understand his problems and will find answers to his questions. Its purpose is not to give the students a pre-graduate education.

EBS Romania supports the Waldorf School from Cluj

The company EBS Romania Ltd. supports the initiative of the Waldorf school to organized IT classes for the students of the 10th form. We put at their disposal a training room fitted with all modern conveniences (PCs, printer, scanner, video projector, Internet, white board). Mrs. Sorina Bere, Computer Science teacher at the Waldorf school, teaches the Waldorf students the following subjects:

EBS Romania Ltd. Encourages Talented Youth

EBS Romania Ltd. partly covered for Flaviu Roman the expenses of the "Winner's travel", organized by the Romanian Minister of Education. Flaviu Roman attends the 11th form of the Teodor Popovici IT-highschool and he obtained the 3rd place at the national IT competition.

Our company encourages not only future IT specialists but also sporting life. Sports presupposes a healthy lifestyle and is the best spokesman. The sportsman Romeo Bocor from the Ciclo Turism Club Cluj-Napoca, participant at several triathlon competitions inland and abroad, was also sponsored by us. It will help him to acquire the necessary equipment so that he can participate at the competition in Zarnesti, Prahova, in the period 14th-15th of July 2001.

Invitation to the International Workshop from the Faculty of Commercial IT

In July 2001 EBS Romania Ltd. was invited by the Faculty of Commercial IT to an international workshop with the title "New perspectives in Commercial IT- the Basis for Business Management and Informatics".

Not only university professors from Romania, Canada, Hungary, France and from the Moldavian Republic, but also software companies from Cluj participated at this event. During the workshop our colleagues Cristian Toma-Susman (Development Manager Asset Management) und Iulia Lupascu (Application Developer Controlling) offered a brief presentation of our company, underlining the company's activity fields and emphasizing the continuous further training of our employees. On this occasion we have made public the continuation of the project "Scholarships 2002" for the students of the faculty of Commercial IT and Informatics.

Ziua de Ardeal – EBS Romania became 1 year old

EBS Romania, the independent subsidiary of the German company with the same name celebrated yesterday one year of existence. As it is usual with the mother company, members of the management represented the German company at this event. Although they had been rather reserved with respect to the foundation of a subsidiary in Cluj Napoca, they didn't regret at all to have taken the decision of investing in Romania. Dr. Benedikt Ortmann stated that the professional education of young IT specialists, compared to that of their colleagues from Western Europe, left a very good impression behind. Mr. Daniel Metz, Manager of EBS Romania Ltd., founder of the Romanian subsidiary, told us that because the University Babes Bolyai was preparing talented IT specialists the manpower market became very well developed in Cluj. But the most important thing was considered to be the mentality of people in Cluj, suitable to business affairs.

The German company had developed business management solutions for the Western market. Mr. Daniel Metz made public, that the Romanian subsidiary counted 80 employees and a turnover of 1.5 billion Lei p.a.

Monitorul de Cluj – German companies prefer IT specialists from Cluj Napoca

One year ago, when the German company decided to expand on the Romanian market, they chose Cluj Napoca as the only subsidiary in Romania: „We chose Cluj Napoca because of the very good knowledge in informatics of the specialists and the particular reputation of the University.“, stated Dr. Benedikt Ortmann, member of the governing body of the German company. „We concentrated our business on Cluj, for we have found here highly qualified manpower.“ (Daniel Metz, General Manager of EBS Romania Ltd.) At the present the EBS team is made up of 80 software developers, economical consultants, lawyers and psychologists. According to Mr. Daniel Metz, there is a possibility that the business will expand up to 120-150 employees.

Adevarul de Cluj – Celebration of Jubilee by EBS Romania

EBS Romania Ltd. celebrated one year of existence in a ceremonial atmosphere. With 80 employees – most of them being software developers and economic consultants – EBS Romania proved to be one of the leading providers of integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions.

The strategy of the company is based on the facilitation of the access to independent hardware and software resource providers for the user, with the purpose of assign ability of the products.

The German company obtained the 1st price for the human resources application in 2000. At the awarding ceremony the topics modernization and re-use possibilities of primary information were discussed.

During the ceremony a member of the governing body of the German company declared that the company in Cluj proved to be stable and well balanced, which contributed to its assertion on the market.
