- Fit for the Future
EBS OutputManager enables the lists and forms generation (type and size of the lists and forms are known). By using GUIs, the Legacy System does not affect the content of the character-oriented presentation of the lists and forms. OutputManager adapts XML - work files based on XML - template data into a graphic form and makes them available in different formats. You can obtain filtered data from the database through routines (the whole reporting logic) developed in NATURAL or other Legacy Programming Language.
The output can be made in an XML file.
The process can be easily managed when central routines are used.
The XML-Work file of the Legacy System is used as input for OutputManager.
The graphical processing of the report's view occurs in OutputManager.
As the templates are customer / report-specific defined, they ease the administration of the reports.
The results can be saved, printed, archived, historically administered as the user wants to, etc.
You do not have to modify the current reporting code under the Legacy System Programming Language, by modifying the code the result of OutputManager processing will be improved.
The presentation will be essentially improved.
- How it works
Step I
The fields of each report (lists and forms) are described in an XML file. The description of the fields takes place automatically when saving the data of the template form in the especially created configuration program. This information will be used for parsing the row information in central routines and by processing the Designer functionality.
Step II
The customer launches lists either from the Legacy System's environment or the GUI. The output will be led up to an XML work file. All Legacy System users have a folder on the server, where this output was saved. The name of the work file will be representative for the generated list. It is advisable that every work file contains the output of a single list. The user can use this data when loading in OutputManager; it can be also used for a historical administration of the data.
Step III
The user will start OutputManager. A form is launched, where the user can select the work files
generated by the presently used application. Work files can be also selected later if they are still available.
The information from the XML folder will be loaded in the Designer functionality, where the user can make certain display changes.
Step IV
The result can be seen in the Previewer functionality or it can be saved in a *.pdf file. The user also has the option to save it as a template. This template contains the processed form of the Header / Footer and other fields, which were adapted on users' preference. This template can be always used later to analyze a certain list and / or form.
